10 Things to Love About Halloween

Halloween has always been my favourite time of year and I always do a Halloween themed blog post, so of course I just couldn't let this year go by without doing another one and celebrating the best most spookiest day of year!

For this post, I've come up with a list of 10 things that I feel really sum up All Hallows Eve and all the things I love about it. Let me know in the comments witch (pun intended) one's you agree with and tell me any other things you love about this scary season too :-)

1. The Costumes - I mean how can you not love them!  I've always been a big fan of dressing up ever since I was a child, I would have fancy dress parties every birthday and dress up any other time I could.  So it was obvious I was still going to LOVE dressing up for Halloween as an adult too.  I've always made all my own costumes for Halloween and being a crafty person, I love making any little accessories to go with the outfits as well.  If you need some costume ideas for this weekend, check my two posts here and here for some really quick and easy ones.

2. The Treats - any excuse for chocolate is good in my book and Halloween is the perfect time to binge (or is that Christmas, or birthdays or all three!) :-D

3. Pumpkins - they're fun, they're tasty and just always look so seasonal.  I can honestly say, so far in my life I have never carved a pumpkin!  It's literally one of those 'things to do before I die' on my life goals list lol  But I do love the way they look with cute or scary faces sat outside lighting up people's doorways.

4. Scary Stories - My favourite has to be those little short creepy stories you find on google like; "The scariest thing to hear is a child laughing... when it's midnight and you're home alone"!!!  Lol I just love that.  If you fancy reading my own spooky short story, have a little look here, hope you like it.

5. Halloween Makeup Looks - I know youtube has everything from basic novice up to MUA level but, I just love watching how these makeup looks are done.  I did try to recreate my own one time, let's just say I'll leave it to the professionals!!

6. Fun For All - One thing that makes me happy when it comes to Halloween is, it's for everyone at any age.  Just because I'm not 6 and don't go around trick or treating anymore, I can still celebrate it and have fun, plus of course it's a great chance to scare your friends, which is always fun :-D

7. Spooky Baking - There are SO many amazingly easy Halloween treats you can make, but my favourite ones are the various cupcakes and biscuits.  I really need to get back in to baking, there's so many tasty recipes I want to try.  But for now, have a look at my Creepy Cupcakes if you fancy making a little something for your party this year (or just for yourself, that cool too).

8. Being Scared - No one wants to feel afraid. . . unless of course it's Halloween and you're having a blast with your friends!  Have any of you ever been to one of those fright-night, walk-through scare house things?  I did one once and it was so creepy and so cool :-D  Definitely give that a go if you get the chance.  Just try not to be the person right and the back, you've been warned!

9. Halloween Decorations - This one has to be one of the best things about Halloween and since I was a kid, they have got SO much bigger, better and fancier!  A few years ago my friend and I had a great time bargain hunting in the shops and we got loads of amazing bits and bobs to do up her house for a party, mostly from Poundland, Wilko and Asda, as they always have great stuff.  But the following year, I decided to save us some money and make my own.  So if you fancy getting crafty, have a look at my Easy DIY Halloween Decorations post for loads of ideas, because decorating your house for Halloween has to be one of the most fun things to do ever!

10. And finally HORROR MOVIES :-D - Quite possibly one of my favourite things in life are horror films!!  You cannot beat a good spooky horror, whether it's an old classic like Hocus Pocus, Poltergeist or The Fog, or something newer and even creepier like Mama, The Conjuring or The Woman in Black (all favs that I highly recommend by the way!)  Get on Netflix or bring out all your favourite old dvds and binge watch until you're too scared to walk around your house in the dark :-)  You're welcome!!

Whatever you do this year, have a really great Halloween and until next time, Stay Spooky ♥

The Spooky Halloween Tag

Hi everyone, I discovered a new tag and better still, it's a Halloween tag yeay!!! :-D  So here ya go. . .

1. Favourite horror or Halloween-themed song? I love this track called 'Transylvanian Concubine'.  It's from the original Buffy soundtrack and it just screams ;-) Halloween.  But I also love Michael Jacksons 'Thriller', it's a classic and the video is so well done.

2. Name something you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark forest or in an abandoned building.  Anyone else, I mean I could easily say a clown or Freddy, but even if I saw a regular person I'd be very cautious!

3. Have you ever played with a Ouija Board?
Other than a make-shift one when I was a kid, with letters written on paper, no.  I just don't think they're something that should be messed with.

4. Favourite horror monster or villain?
It's got to be Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street!

5. The creepiest thing that’s ever happened while you were alone?
Seeing a full on ghost in my house, you can read all about it here

6. If you were dared to spend the night in a “haunted house”, would you do it?
No flippin' way!

7. Are you superstitious?
No not really, I believe you make your own luck

8. Do you ever see figures in your peripheral vision?
Sometimes!

9. Which urban legend scares you the most?
Honestly none of them scare me, it's just silly made up stories.  But what does scare me are some of the frightening things I hear on the news like at the moment with all this clown stuff, they've even been spotted in my local town with knives and axes and it honestly makes me worried to go out alone!

10. Do you prefer gore or thrillers?
Thrillers, I'm not in to gore at all, although being a TWD fan you kind of get used to it, I still prefer a good spooky horror when it comes to movies

11. Do you believe in multiple dimensions or worlds?
You never know, I'm not ruling it out!

12. Ever made a potion of any sort?
Yes, well I am a white witch...

13. Do you get scared easily?
Yes, every little bump or creek or shadow and I freak, I hate the dark far more now than when I was a kid.  I am very sensitive to things and I have actual seen and experienced paranormal things many times (plus our house seems to be haunted), but I also blame all the horror films I watch too!

14. Have you ever played Bloody Mary?
Nope

15. Do you believe in demons/the devil?
Not in the biblical sense but I do believe in evil people, or maybe demons in human form and psychic vampires (google it)

16. You’re home alone but you hear footsteps in your house, what do you do?
I'd grab anything that could potentially be a weapon and go and investigate!

17. If you got trapped in one scary movie, which would you choose?
Probably Scream, and I'd know not to do all the stupid classic things the victims do, like running upstairs instead of out of the house and screaming all the time so the killer knows exactly where they're hiding!!

18. If you could only wear one halloween costume for the rest of your life, what would you be?
It would have to be a witch, a cool gothic witch :-)

19. would you ever go to a graveyard at night?
Yes, I think that would actually be really cool, although preferably with friends!

20. In a zombie apocalypse what is your weapon of choice?
Yeay, I was so happy when I saw this question :-D  Most definitely a sword :-)

21. Would you rather go to a Halloween party or go trick or treating?
Party, so much more fun

22. You’re in a horror movie.  Are you the final girl, the first to die, the comic relief, the skeptic, the smart one, or the killer?
I'd like to think either the final girl or the smart one, I've seen 101 horror films, I've picked up a lot of tips for survival!

23. Do you have to watch something happy after watching a horror movie so you can go to sleep?
No not always, they often don't play on my mind so much anymore, but I guess it depends on the type of horror I've watched

24. Whilst watching scary movies, are you the person who yells at the characters, the person with their eyes covered the whole time, or the person who falls asleep?
Lol I've done all three of those in the past!  Mostly the one yelling at the stupid characters but again, depending on the movie, I have been known to hide behind a pillow too

25. Are you the one who gets scared, or the one who does the scaring?
I get scared and jump all the time!

26. Favorite scary book?
I don't think I've ever read a scary book!

27. How old were you when you saw your first horror movie?
I think I was about 9 or 10, I saw The Fog (the original 80's version), which I still really like now

28. What was your first Halloween costume?
I really can't remember, I'm guessing it was probably a witch lol

29. What are you going to be for Halloween this year?
Sadly I'm not dressing up this year, me and my besties decided to have a girly-horror-movie-sleep-over with lots of nibblies instead, and I'm really looking forward to it :-)

30. If you could have a spooky halloween pet (black cat, owl, bat, rat, wolf), what would you pick
?  A black cat most definitely, I've always loved black cats :-)

I hope you like this little tag post, I didn't actually even plan to do this one, but I spotted the tag on Kayleigh's video and thought, yep gotta do that!  Please feel free to join in and write your answers in the comments and I tag everyone to this :-)
Until Next Time Stay Happy

Halloween - The Paranormal Tag

Happy Halloween everyone, for a special spooky post today I thought I would do The Paranormal Tag.  I've been really wanting to do this tag for a really long time so I thought of course, what better time to do it than for Halloween :-)

1. How old were you when you had your first paranormal experience?I think I was about 17, there used to be a phone box in the downstairs hallway of the boarding house I lived in.  The door was like a stable door, no top and no bottom about a foot from the ground.  I was sat on the floor in there chatting on the phone, when I saw a dark grey see-through shape of someone walking past the phone box.  I stood up straight away and looked out to see who it was, but no one was there!

2. Have you always believed in ghosts?
Yes pretty much, I've seen too many things and had too many weird experiences not to!  But I am quite sceptical, I need good hard proof before I'm convinced.

3. Where are your favourite places to investigate?
I don't do this anymore, but years ago a few of my friends and I used to go to several places and take photos and sound recordings, it was great fun!  Graveyards are of course always good, there used to be a place near my school called the Old Priory which we often used to go to, that was even feature on a paranormal tv show once!  There's absolutely loads of great places here in Wales too, like Chirk castle, that has quite the reputation and a lot of creepy stories.  I took this photo in the dungeons, it was extremely creepy and I would not like to be left down there alone!! :-(

4. What are your favourite investigating tools to use?
A camera has to be the main one, you never know what spooky spirit might photo bomb your pictures!  I think voice recording is great too, to pick up any ghostly sounds.

5. What was your scariest paranormal experience?
It would have to be one night about 3 or 4 years ago, I can remember it really clearly yet it feels unreal that I saw what I did.
I was on my own in the house, I went to turn off the light in the dining room and I thought I heard a noise in the hallway, where the lights were also off.  I looked through the glass door and I noticed I'd left the landing light on which was glowing down the stairs.  Suddenly I saw a tall black figure stood in the hallway, it moved away from me towards the front door, turned around the banister at the bottom of the stairs and then walked halfway up the stairs then disappeared!  Lets just say I wasn't too keen to go up to bed that night!!

6 What is your favourite paranormal experience?
I don't really know if I have a favourite as such, even though the one I just described was pretty creepy, that was probably one of the best because it was so real, it just couldn't have been anything other than a ghost of some kind!

7. Do you know anyone else personally who has had paranormal experiences?
Yep quite a few, they have lots of stories too.

8. Do you have trouble convincing friends and family about your experiences?
Not really, most of them have had their own!

9. Favourite paranormal TV show or movie?
Oh wow, we could be here all day if I write down all of them for this answer! :-)  I love horror films, I'm a total horror buff, so there's not really many I haven't seen, although a good horror film is hard to find, there's a lot of rubbish ones out there, Mama is still one of my favourites and the original Poltergeist.

As for TV shows, I wouldn't be me if I didn't straight away shout out The X Files, those of you that know me will be nodding like crazy now lol, I grew up watching it I was totally obsessed, I even got nicknamed Scully at school.
Basically if it's spooky I'll watch it; Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Ghost Whisperer, Roswell High, Walking Dead, Afterlife, Dr Who, Bedlam, Sea of Souls, Paranormal Investigators, Strange but True, Most Haunted (+ a load of the other general ghostly/haunted programmes).  I think one of the only popular ones I haven't watched is The Vampire Diaries, I still really want to see that.  I think the very first paranormal show I ever watched was Randall and Hopkirk, I used to love that when I was a kid, ooh and The Twilight Zone that was amazing :-)

10. What would be your dream place to investigate?
There's a few places but I think one of the best would be an old house called Plas Teg here in Wales.  It's supposed to be extremely haunted and the old lady that owns it does overnight tours, which I think would be a really cool thing to do.

11. Do you prefer to investigate alone or in a group?
I think (fear aside), being in a group would be a lot better.  I mean the least little noise or cold chill and your mind will be playing tricks, but if you're in a group then others can verify what's going on or at least you can all be scared together!  Personally there's no way I could go alone, far too creepy!

12. Is your home haunted?
Yes I definitely feel it is, myself and my family have all experienced weird things at different times over many years, definitely some strange stuff going on here!!

13. Have you ever had any paranormal experiences with animals?
Yes.  One time, one of my little poodles suddenly started backing at the corner of the room for no reason, it was very out of character.  Another time one of my other poodles was having a drink of water from the bowl on the floor, suddenly turned and started growling at something but there was nothing there!  Myself and other people in my family have also thought we've seen a little dog, like a little while ago I was in the kitchen and both our poodles were in another room, yet I'm positive I saw a small light coloured dog go past me, I went to check straight away and they were both asleep in bed!

I hope you liked this post and it made you feel very creeped out and ready for Halloween :-)  Please leave comments and let me know if you've had any paranormal experiences and what happened, I'd love to hear your stories!
Until Next Time Stay Spooky and have an amazing Halloween
