My Current Favourites - April 2016

Hi everyone, I realised the other day that I've not done a favourites post in absolutely ages, so here you go, here's a few things that I've been loving lately :-)

Bates Motel, a friend of mine kept telling me to watch this and I finally started about 6 weeks ago, I'm already halfway through season 2!  I wasn't sure at first but I stuck with it and now I'm really eager to see what happens next.  At the end of every episode, about a minute before the end, there's always a shocker too, something big always happens and so of course makes you desperate to see the next one!  Let me know if you watch too and we can chat about it :-)

Another show I've been watching a lot of is Desperate Housewives.  Now I know this finished years ago, but I got the box set a year or so ago and never got round to finishing it, so the last couple of months, I've watched all through seasons 5, 6, 7 and now 8 the final one!  And I've totally remembered how good it was, it's funny, shocking, sad, and I love it.

Now on to a bit of make up, I've been loving a few things lately and I find I've been using this little combo quite a lot.

First off is this lovely little Galaxy eyeshadow palette by Tanya Burr.  Some of you may remember I did a mini review of it, when I first bought it back in November.

Well I've used it quite a few times now (not that you can tell the little star pattern is still perfect!)  I find they all blend really well and the shimmer is really pretty.  I especially love Moonlight and Starry Night, and Snowflake is the perfect highlight!  I love that it's so small and has the magnetic closure, so it's perfect to take out with me and the mirror is really handy too, like the other day when I couldn't find my regular one!  I've yet to do a 'night time' look with it, but I think Starry night with a good bit of eyeliner and some false lashes would look amazing :-)

I think I've probably mentioned this amazing mascara a couple of times before, probably because it's SO amazing!  I can't honestly remember when I last used a different mascara, this is now my 'holy grail', and I really need to get a spare, or several!

I love trying out new lipstick as much as the next person, but I always end up going back to my old favourites whenever I'm in a rush or I just can't decide which one to wear, and over the past few weeks, these two have been that old favourite!  The Maybelline lip pencil in Minimalist, with my old faithful Tanya Burr Aurora gloss over the top. I think it just looks so pretty and simple and natural.

About 3 weeks ago I heard about this ñ Comic Con Wales, for those that don't know (because until recently, I didn't either), it is a huge convention for all us Marvel/sci-fi geeks, it's a chance to meet some of the amazing actors from shows like Supernatural, Harry Potter, Dr. Who and so on!  I've been getting more and more in to all the stuff over the last year, thanks to my two bff's and now I'm really excited to go . . .

I've already bought the tickets, which were only £10, which I thought was great, it's even in my home town too so I don't have to travel more than 10 minutes to get there :-)  And I'm really hoping I can take pictures while I'm there, so I can show you all how it went next week.  Like I said I'm really excited, especially as it's my first ever convention and . . .

Because I'm going to be meeting this guy :-D  James Masters, who played Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I was the biggest Buffy fan back in the day and I really can't wait to meet him, as Spike was always one of my favourite characters!!  Amber Benson will also be there, who played Tara, so I'm really looking forward to meeting her too, fingers crossed I can at least get a selfie with both of them.

Have you been to any conventions before, was it good, who did you get to meet? Let me know in the comments :-) and Until Next Time Stay Happy

What I Made Over Easter - Chocolicious Cupcakes

Hi everyone, since I haven't done a baking post in a good while, I thought I would show you these delicious chocolate cupcakes that I made over Easter and how to make them.

Click for a bigger view!

Once you have all the ingredients up together, measure out the butter and sugar either into a large bowl or food mixer and blend together.

Lightly whisk 2 eggs and add to the mixture.

Then measure out the flour, salt and baking powder, thoroughly blend this in with the other ingredients to make a nice smooth consistency.

Finely chop up all the chocolate . . .

. . . and stir in with the rest of the mixture, even if you're using a food mixer!

Add some pretty cake cases to a tray and put a good large dollop of the mixture in each case.  You can always go back afterwards and add more to some or take it from others to even them out.

Bake the cakes for 18-20 minutes, turning them half-way through.  You may need to cook them a little longer or a little less time, depending on your oven, so keep a good eye on them!  Once finished, take them out the tray and place on a rack to cool for at least an hour.

Next, make up the chocolate icing, using the icing sugar, cocoa powder and a little warm water (just add a very small amount at a time and stir really well, be prepared for arm-ache!)

Once ready, ice and decorate one cupcake at a time or the icing will set before you've had chance to decorate them.
Using a palette knife, slice off the little curved mounds from each cake, add a small spoonful of icing and smooth it over the tops, add a mini egg and then a sprinkle of the finely chopped chocolate.

I hope you enjoyed this post.  Why don't you have a go at making these, they're really easy and fun to make and you could use lots of different topping so they're not just for Easter either!  And if you do make them, send me your pictures on Twitter, I'd love to see them :-)
