March Mini Haul

Hi everyone, I just wanted to do a quick 'mini haul' for you today with a few of the bits I bought on Friday last week.  There's only a few bits to show you but I'm quite excited about them all and just had to share :-)
First off I picked up this absolutely beautiful dress in Tesco, I tried it on and just couldn't resist (we all know that feeling right?!)  It looked great on but it is a little too big for me under the arms, nothing I can't fix with a sewing machine.  So for that reason only I'm using the product pic from the Tesco website to show it to you.

It has the most beautiful lavender-blue satin fabric underneath a white see-through layer of embroidered flowers, it's synched in at the waist and has a 'v' opening at the back.  I love the higher rounded neckline too, as anything with a low-cut neck looks terrible on me!  So it's just perfect and I can't wait to wear it somewhere nice in the summer :-)

********************
The next place I toddled off to was of course Boots, I mean when do I ever not go to Boots lol :-)  I wanted to take advantage of the 3 for 2 offer that was only on for a couple more days, so I picked up 3 more of the Rimmel Color Rush Balm Stains.  I won't say too much about these as I'm planning a little review for you all in the next week or so!!

I got (from left to right), Not an Illusion, Give Me a Cuddle and The Redder The Better to add to my collection :-)

And now for the big finale, drum roll please.....
I finally spent the Boots advantage card points that I've been saving up, for what seems like forever, and got the amazingly wonderful Real Techniques Core Collection Brush set :-D  I have been wanting this since I first got the Starter Set over a year ago and have used it every time I do my makeup, they are excellent brushes and I've been longing to get them for an absolutely age! :-)

So that's it, just a few little bits that I picked up and decided to show you!  I hope you're all well and have a great weekend :-)

Closet Confidential Tag

Hi everyone, well what a busy week, it's been a very stressful few days here, life has been very hectic and I've been rushed off my feet, plus I think I have a sinus infection I'm not sure, yuk not fun! So I do apologize for the lack of new post over the last week, I normally like to try and do a post at least once a week if not more but this time round, it's just not happening :-/
But anyway, I have a new fun little post for you guys, and I've treated my blog to a new font too, just because I couldn't resist and I hope you like it :-)

So, there's a new tag going around YouTube at the moment called the Closet Confidential
Tag which was originally created by YouTube's Fleur from
FleurDeForce.  I've seen several people do this tag now and it got me thinking about some of the clothes in my wardrobe. . . So, here's my version :-)

Question One – What is the oldest thing in your closet?

This pink checked shirt, I've had it around 9 years or so, I probably got it in a sale (I do with most things, trained bargain hunter!)  And I just love it, it's that cheese-cloth type of material so it's naturally crinkly and I never have to iron it (bonus!)  It's great under a jumper in the autumn and perfect over a strappy vest or t-shirt in the summer.  It's definitely one of my 'staple' pieces!

Question Two  What is the newest item?

Jumpers, jumpers and more jumpers, it's all I've been buying lately!  My old ones have definitely seen better days and I needed to renew my winter wardrobe!

Question Three  What is the most expensive item?

I got this gorgeous shirt a couple of years ago at Debenhams, It's by Red Herring and I think it was around £28, which for me was a lot to spend on a shirt!  I just love the style, the way it hangs as it flares from the waist, I love the ruffled panels and the gorgeous vintage style buttons, each one is different!

Question Four  What is the cheapest/most affordable item that you wear a lot?
I couldn't help but choose two items for this question, these 'boyfriend style' cardigans are just amazing.  I bought several of them last year in a little boutique called Pure Image for only £4 each and when I say several, I mean 8!! They are so easy and comfortable to wear, especially in the summer as I like to keep my arms a little covered (I burn easy, it's the red hair!)  And these are just perfect as they're so light-weight.  They were available in a nice range of colours too, so I now have one to go with any outfit :-)

The second item/s are these basic staples, t-shirts and strappy vest tops.  I always wear these under jumpers in the colder months and I have sooo many!  I get them from Primark and they only cost around £2.50 - £4 each, brilliant!

Question Five  What was the biggest bargain?

These gorgeous boots were originally £25 each from Tesco, I've been wanting some boots this style for such a long time and these were just ideal but at the time, I really could not justify spending out that much on them, plus I just couldn't decide which colour I liked best!  So several weeks went by and Tesco Clothing had a sale on :-)  Yes you know what's coming next!  The black pair were reduced to only £10 and there was no way I was going to miss out on them but there was no brown ones anywhere!  Another couple of weeks went buy and I thought well they're bound to all be sold out by now, but to my total surprise and delight, they had one pair of the brown left, in my size and only £5!!!  I was meant to have them :-)

Question Six  What was the biggest waste of money?

I bought this cream lace blazer at the end of last summer, in a sale at Tesco, I think it was around £8 which yes isn't the greatest waste of money and the thing is, I still really like it, the lace is beautiful, it has gold threads running through it and the cut fits really well.  My problem is, I haven't a clue how to style it in an outfit.  Yes it would look great with jeans but I just can't find the right top that really works with it, so, so far it's stayed in my wardrobe :-(

Question Seven – What are your 3 favorite items right now!

Well just look at it, it's beautiful!  I pick up this stunning blouse in (you guessed it) a sale at Tesco for about £6 and just fell in love with it.  So now I'm waiting for a bit more warmer weather and somewhere nice to go so I can wear it!

I was really excited to find these lovely mint skinny jeans in Primark a while back, they were only £8 and fit like a glove.  I also picked up a faded denim pair and a white pair.  I'm longing to wear them with t-shirts or floaty tops and flats in the summer :-)

This beautiful item was another absolute bargain!  I saw it in Matalan last summer as a full dress, it had a strange cape attached to the sleeveless top and even though it was £25 I loved it.  I tried it on but was so disappointed, it just didn't look quite right at the top half and Several weeks later I spotted it again in a sale for £7 :-)  I got it home, tried it on again and still wasn't happy with the top but loved the gorgeous long skirt.  So I took a pair of scissors and the top came off!  I now have a beautiful flowing maxi skirt for the summer :-)

There's so many other clothes that I love in my wardrobe and it's actually been really hard to decide which ones to show for this tag.  So I'd love to see which ones you would choose, let me know in the comments below or send me links to your youtube videos or blogs, as I love to see them :-)

Review - Maybelline Big Eyes Double Ended Mascara

Hi guys, review time again!  I recently went to Boots and picked up the new Maybelline Big Eyes double ended mascara, phew mouthful!  I know it's been out a little while but there's still promo stands in our little branch of Boots, so I'm still considering this to be 'new'!

Ok, first off when I got this mascara it had £2 off (gotta love a bargain) and of course I couldn't resist trying out a new Maybelline mascara, since they've always been my favorite brand and of course the idea of having a separate smaller brush just for the lower lashes seemed a great thing to try out.

The normal sized 'Upper Lash' wand

And the smaller, thinner sized 'Lower Lash' wand.

**********
And now the weird eye pics lol! :-)

This is just a pic of my natural lashes, with no makeup on at all.

This is just using the upper lash wand.  I've put about 2 coats of mascara on and I noticed straight away how much longer it made my lashes look but... I did also think it made them have that 'spidery' look, which I'm not a great fan of.  I like my lashes long and voluminous and this didn't seem to give me any volume at all.
Now normally I'm the first person to rave about Maybelline mascara's, they've always been the best out of all the ones I've tried and tested over the years but this did leave me feeling disappointed.  The formula didn't seem to be up to the normal Maybelline standard and was even a bit dry and flaky (as you can see in the next photo)!  Sadly it's not one I would like to use again.  On a plus note though, even though it doesn't state it on the packaging, it does seem to be waterproof which is another thing I usually look for, especially this time of year when the cold winds make my eyes water like crazy!

On to the smaller wand, one of the things I really liked about this was how easily it coated the lower lashes and I do quite like the 'fuller' effect that it gives having both top and bottom lashes coated. It's not a look I generally go for but after trying this, I definitely think I will give it another go.  Although in future I will most likely use a different mascara for the upper lashes!

Have you bought this, what did you think?  Let me know in the comments below :-)

A Little Visit to - Wrexham Museum

Helloooo!  I've been a bit naughty this past week and even though I've been having loads of ideas for blog posts and I have been busy preparing for them too, I've not done a post in over a week, how did that go so fast!!  Apologies!

Anyway so, I thought I'd do a quick post now and tell you about my visit to Wrexham County Museum in North Wales, that I went to on Saturday (the 8th March).

My friend and I spent a good while looking around, it's quite a small place but full of artifacts, photos and other interesting displays.  It was even free entry!  The lady at the front desk told me I was quite welcome to take photos inside, so I happily went round clicking away, taking lots of photos to share with you guys.  So here they are :-)

The front of the museum

 Police constables through the ages

Ooh creepy skeletal remains, on the plaque it said only 22% of the bones were found in the
man made coffin, wonder what happened to the rest!

A brooch, coins and a part of furniture that was found in the local areas

Ancient Coins and what they could buy, back in the day!

Ornaments, a few children's toys and a creepy child's gas mask!  It's a shame this pic
came out a little blurry though

I quite liked this beautiful child's horse, it reminded me of the rocking horse I had
when I was little

A random collection of old packets and other vintage items, just look at that hairdryer!

Aren't these amazing!  A display of beautiful gemstones from around the world

There was also a lovely cafe just as we came through the doors next to little gift shop but sadly we got there too late to sample their efforts.

And who can resist a gift shop!  I spotted this gorgeous little Rose Quartz heart on a shelf and just had to add it to my already large collection of gemstones!

I was also given this funny sticker as a reminder of our visit, I think it's supposed to be a caveman, hmm strange!

So all in all, it was a very nice day :-)  Have you been to any museum's recently, did you enjoy it, what things did you see?  Let me know in the comments below :-)

Kick Ass Concealing!

Hi everyone, today I wanted to talk to you about my favorite concealer, the Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer.  Now I know it's been around for quite a while but, I never quite realized just how good it was until last weekend...

First off I have to say how much I just love the packaging, it's not just the usual basic boring compact style, it actually has 'style'!  It looks glam and has that typical Soap & Glory retro 50's look, which is great.

I also love that you don't just get one basic concealer in this pot, you get the whole perfect concealing package, two different consistency's and the setting powder too.

I've been using this concealer for quite a while and I really like using it, it goes on quite smoothly, the under-eye (step 2) side is great for the bags but I find it is better to use it sparingly and the powder is just plain brilliant!  I use it all over with a brush and it helps keep everything in place all day!

Anyway, last week I had a THE most horrible bright red spot at the top of my nose, and believe me when I say I tried near enough everything to get rid of it, from hot flannels, to salt water and ice cubes, to toothpaste!  Nothing was helping not even my trusty Neutrogena Visibly Clear 4 hour gel (which I normally swear by!)

So not only did I have a giant bright red beacon on my face, I also had an important day planned last Saturday, a first date with my possible 'new man'!  So it was not the best time in the world for me to have a horrible embarrassing spot!  I needed something dam good and fast and the Kick ass concealer did THE most perfect job!  Even though I'd already been using it for a while, it really got put to the test and I was amazed with the results.  You could still see I had a spot to a degree but all the redness had disappeared and unless you really looked for it, you couldn't see a thing :-)

I will insert a couple of pictures here of a before and after, please excuse the very crappy pictures, I do not photograph well!

So all in all I think it did a great job, how about you? :-)
